Holiday Detox

Good morning,
I hope everyone had very Happy Holidays.  If your holidays were anything like mine you spent a lot of time with family who do not completely support your healthy lifestyle.
I did enjoy my indulgences over the last few days but it is time to get back on track.  Here are 4 foods that will help you detox....or you can do what I do and follow our Isagenix System for the best results with an easy to follow plan.

Food #1: Turmeric (clean your fat burning filter)

Turmeric is now being touted in the innovative medical community as the “fountain of youth” super spice.
Used predominantly in Indian cuisine, the root of this spice is used for dozens of health benefits, including acting as a powerful, all-natural anti-inflammatory agent.
Often considered the forgotten spice, turmeric can assist your liver’s enzymes in flushing out carcinogens from your body.
This is critically important for optimal health and efficient fat loss because your liver acts as a natural detoxifier. It’s your body’s fat burning filter and turmeric will help you keep it healthy.
A poor functioning liver will ZAP you of your energy and make it nearly impossible to shed unwanted body fat because it’s responsible for the elimination of drugs, pesticides, and environmental chemicals from your body.
Turmeric not only helps you maintain a healthy functioning liver, research indicates curcumin, a chemical found in turmeric, may help reduce joint pain caused from inflammation and lower your blood sugar to eliminate cravings...all of which will keep your body in a “fat burning environment”.
As you can clearly see, this spice is definitely one you want to be making good use of. It will help you flush out more “trapped” fat and it just so happens to work perfectly with food #2 below.

Food #2: Lemon Juice (purge toxins from your blood)

The all-natural alkalizing effect of fresh squeezed juice, from organic lemons, has a very powerful detoxifying effect that can purge toxins from the blood and help assist in removing harmful compounds from your body.
Almost everybody has been misled to believe lemons are acidic, but inside your body lemons are an incredibly alkaline food that can help balance your body’s pH, which means better health and higher energy levels.
Lemon juice has also been shown to improve your digestive function, acts as a mild diuretic and is loaded with healthy nutrients (citric acid, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, bioflavonoids, pectin) that helps boost your immune function.
Combine all these benefits together and you have the PERFECT environment for faster fat loss. All you need to do to get all these healthy fat fighting benefits is squeeze a medium sized lemon (use organic to avoid residual pesticides) into a small glass of water every morning on an empty stomach.
But this is really only the beginning. When you combine this little trick with the ones I provide on the next page, you can supercharge every single one of the benefits listed above.

Food #3: Cruciferous Vegetables
(destroy fat storing estrogen)

Cruciferous vegetables contain a naturally occurring ingredient called 3,3′-Diindolylmethane or DIM for short. DIM is strongly anti-estrogenic, so it helps block xenoestrogens (sometimes called obsesogens)…otherwise known as BAD estrogen that accumulates inside your body from constant exposure to environmental toxins.
This hormone is the reason why women are storing more and more belly fat in today’s day and age – and it’s also responsible for chronically low testosterone levels in men. This causes all kinds of nasty side effects like facial hair in women and “man boobs” in men. Not to mention it makes it VERY difficult to lose weight.
DIM not only wards of off bad estrogen, it also acts as an immunostimulant, which means it can naturally“boost” your immune system and Wikipedia even touts this ingredient to have various potent anticancerproperties. So including these foods in your diet could go a long way.
Obvious choices to add to your daily nutrition plan are broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, and cabbage. Some other, lesser-known, super veggies include swiss chard, arugula, collard greens, bok choy, kale, and watercress.
IMPORTANT TIP: Since DIM is fat soluble, it’s best to consume these veggies with other healthy oils and friendly fats like grass fed butter. This will greatly enhance the absorption of these powerful fat-fighting nutrients.
I'll show you dozens of other healthy foods that can KILL BAD HORMONES and accelerate your rate of fat loss on the next page.

Food #4: Tart Cherries
(recover FASTER and stop inflammation)

Over 111 million prescriptions are issued yearly for anti-inflammatory drugs. These meds have been shown to wreak havoc on your digestive system, while causing damage to your heart, your liver, and your kidneys.
But the anthocyanins and phenols found in tart cherries have been shown to provide STRONGER protection against muscle injury and damage than these dangerous drugs. In other words, this tiny fruit has been proven BETTER than things like Ibuprofen for reducing inflammation and muscle soreness.
In fact, over 74 published studies indicate tart cherries deliver a high level of protection against cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and can even fight against Alzheimer’s. Many of them also validate tart cherries and tart cherry beverages speed up recovery time from exercise and reduce inflammatory markers significantly.
But there’s MORE...tart cherries also contain a hefty dose of naturally occurring melatonin (improves sleep) and they have one of the highest anti-oxidant scores of all fruits and they score amazingly low on the glycemic index (~20). So they’re one the best fruits to eat for fat loss.
So by eating a hefty dose of tart cherries (or organic, flash pasteurized tart cherry juice) you can help your body recover faster, reduce joint pain through the anti-inflammatory response, sleep better, and fight inflammation to "flush out" more trapped fat from your body.

I hope you find this information helpful and if you would like more information on our Isagenix system that lumps this ALL into a few simple products contact me!

Cleanse day 2 in the books!  As long as I go to bed soon lol!  I feel great I got all my workouts in and believe it or not day 2 was SO much easier.  I am excited to get back to my protein packed meals tomorrow.  I will be starting with egg whites and kale.
Unfortunately my before and after pictures don't do it justice but my abs are tighter and I feel better all over.

Hey there,
Today was my first cleanse day.  I'm not going to lie there were parts of the day that is was difficult...the homemade cookies at the office.... But I stuck with my plan drank my 4 cleanses, ate my Isa Snacks and took my natural accelerator.  I also drank TONS of water.  As the day went on it definitely got easier.
I did my normal weight lifting workout this morning and tonight was kickboxing.  I have a huge amount of energy which is awesome!
My abs feel super tight and I can't wait to see the results in the morning.  Tomorrow is my second cleanse day then its back to normal after that.
In case you guys didn't notice I have NOT been in the bathroom all day.  This isn't a colon cleanse.  It works on the stubborn visceral fat around our organs and the heavy metals we ingest in our daily lives.
I will check back tomorrow night and let you know how I'm feeling!

Happy Sunday!
How is everyone today?  We have had a very busy day.  Started with breakfast with Santa at 8am,  A little disappointing that they had no eggs (just pancakes) so I was completely unprepared.  I made do with mixed fruit.
Then we went to the barn to take care of the horses.  This took care of my workout for the day.  I am trying to cut down on my gym time so I can BUILD tons of muscle for the Figure Stage in the spring.  Now we are home.  All my veggies are prepped for the week.  I like to wash and cut them so I can grab and go and have no excuse not to get my veggies in for the week.
My Isagenix order arrived this week which is SO exciting!
I love opening that box so I will start my 9 day cleanse tomorrow.
I will keep you updated.  I absolutely love how energized I get when I rid my system of all the chemicals that are bogging it down.
Check back soon for updates.

So I have been kind of floundering with this blog.  I wasn't really sure which direction to go with it.  You guys seem to like my workouts and recipes but I have very inconsistent because I really didn't have any direction.  Today it hit me....
I woke up to my daughter (she is 7.5) upset because she couldn't make me breakfast in bed by herself.  For those of you who don't know me personally I am a single mother....When I say single mother I don't mean she goes with her father every other weekend and I get child support.  I mean if I am not at work my daughter is with me.  Every waking moment of everyday....
Back to my point... I have managed to figure out how to live a healthy lifestyle on a non existent budget and absolutely no free time so I thought I would share my ideas with you folks.

I'm going to tell you something you have all heard before but it is so true and very important.
If you don't take care of yourself you cannot take care of anyone else.
I am a single mom and my daughter is my first priority but I have learned if I don't make time for me I am no good to anyone else.
I work full time and still make sure I work out 6 days a week.  It can be done.  It's about prioritizing.  I SCHEDULE my workouts in my appointment book everyday and I don't break the appointment.  Lose the guilt of feeling like you should be doing something for someone else and schedule 1 hour a day for you!
Give it a try you will feel the difference.

How is everyone doing on their New Years Resolutions?  I am doing OK but still a work in progress with a lot of work to go.
My work outs are right on track.  I'm not blogging as much as I would like and I am not tracking my Macro Nutrients.
My goal this week was to track my macros everyday....I didn't!
I have started tracking them today and I will continue until my next contest in about 15 weeks!

I have kept my exercise interesting by adding activities other then the gym.  I went skiing last week and this week I tries Rock Climbing.  It was an absolute blast and a great workout.
I'm making sure to surround myself with people that support me, my goals and my life style.  If makes life a lot more FUN!

This week I think I will try CrossFit.  I'll let you know how it goes...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!!!  I am so excited for the new beginnings in 2014 and all of my resolutions.
My 2013 was to get into the best shape of my life.  I can honestly say at 35 years old I am physically in the best shape of my life.  However, I have realized through my journey that my physical fitness is only a small piece of the whole me.
In 2013 I spent much of my time taking care of others.  I worried a lot that I wasn't doing enough.  I spent much of my time doing things I really didn't particularly care to be doing....just to please others.
SO my 2014 New Years Resolution is to be the Happiest Healthiest version of ME!
2014 is all about ME ME ME!
I have started by ridding myself of all the negative people that were still in my circles.  There are people in my life that are not going to be happy with the new me.  These are the people that take and take and take and never give back.  More often then not there are conditions on our relationship.
Those people no longer have a place in my life.  I am making room for positive people who love me for who I am with no conditions.
This is only step one so check in often to follow my journey in becoming the best me I can be in 2014.
